While the 37-year-old’s festive social media message delighted his followers, it was his performance on the pitch a day earlier that truly left the cricket world in awe. Making a highly anticipated return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy on December 24, the veteran superstar suited up for his home side, Delhi, in a clash against Andhra. Facing a target of 299, the chase master was called into action almost immediately after Delhi suffered an early blow, losing their first wicket for just one run in the opening over.

Stepping in at number three, Kohli delivered a masterclass. He played with remarkable fluency, blending caution with aggression to dismantle the Andhra bowling attack. He ultimately produced a stunning 131 runs off just 101 deliveries, maintaining a brisk strike rate of 129.70. His century ensured that despite the early setback, Delhi remained firmly in control of the scoreboard throughout the middle overs. Though Kohli was dismissed before the winning runs were hit, his innings had already broken the back of the chase. His teammates Harsh Tyagi and Navdeep Saini showed great composure to finish the job, guiding Delhi to a four-wicket victory with a staggering 12.2 overs to spare. Fans won't have to wait long to see him again, as Kohli is expected to feature in Delhi’s second Elite Group D fixture against Gujarat on December 26.
