Highlights:

Shakib Al Hasan bagged four wickets on Day 1 against Somerset.

Shakib bowled long spells for Surrey.

Bangladesh’s veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan did not go back home with the team after their historic cleansweep against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. Named among 156 in a murder case in Bangladesh, Shakib boarded the flight to England to represent Surrey against Somerset on a one-match deal. In the County Championship Division One clash, Shakib made a mark with the ball at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton. The left-arm spinner bagged a four-wicket haul on Day 1 of the game.

Shakib was introduced as the first change bowler by out-of-favour England opener Rory Burns. He did not get a wicket but bowled three maidens in his 10-over first spell. In his 22nd over, Shakib knocked over Tom Abell who was batting on 49. He bowled a delivery that skidded on and crashed into the stumps. Abell misread the line and fell over trying to play a cut shot.

But Tom Banton's 132-run knock helped Somerset get past the 300-run mark. Shakib helped Surrey wrap up Somerset's innings with the wickets of Kasey Aldridge, Craig Overton and Brett Randell. Aldridge got bowled, Overton was stumped out whereas Randell was trapped in front of the stumps. Somerset were bowled out for 317. Shakib bowled 33.5 overs including seven maidens and conceded 97 runs.
