KL Rahul revealed reason behind brand new hundred celebration

KL Rahul scored a brilliant century against West Indies

India batter KL Rahul was seen celebrating his century in a unique way during the second day of the first Test against West Indies. Following the conclusion of the day, the 33-year-old revealed that the celebration was for his daughter Evaarah, who was born earlier this year on March 24.

Big change in favour for Rahul

Ever since Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty were blessed with their baby girl, the batter has improved his form massively and has been quite successful for the Men in Blue in the longest format. Before the West Indies series, Rahul had featured in all of the five Tests against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, scoring a total of 532 runs in 10 innings. He was one of the highest run-getters in the gruelling and highly-important assignment. Now he has begun the West Indies Tests wi th a bang and will be looking to maintain his fine form as the series progresses.

Meanwhile, after the end of Day 2, Rahul remarked that he was quite nervous heading into the match as he hadn't taken the field for the last 5-6 weeks. He further highlighted how challenging the conditions have been for him in the ongoing Ahmedabad Test.

"I just played a game last week. I was a bit nervous playing there because I wasn't on the field for a good 5-6 weeks. So just to get back into that rhythm, just to get back into getting runs and spending time on the field and coming in day after day for 4 days and 5 days is a bit of a challenge physically as well," Rahul said.

"The conditions here have been really challenging physically. The game that I played last week was even worse. Physically it's been really challenging, but yeah, it's good to be out in the middle and it was good for me to have that game and get some miles in me," he added.

India in total control

Meanwhile, India wrapped up Day 2 of the first West Indies Test on a high. They completely dominated with the bat as Rahul, Dhruv Jurel and Ravindra Jadeja all registered centuries. This saw the hosts take their first-inning total to 448/5 by the end of day's play. The Men in Blue currently carry a massive 286-run lead and look to be in complete control of the match.
