Perry's spell helped RCB bowl out MI.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) Ellyse Perry created history at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi against defending champions Mumbai Indians in their last Women’s Premier League (WPL) league stage clash. Perry bamboozled MI batters with her swing to take six wickets for just 15 runs in her quota of four overs. The Australian all-rounder broke the record for best bowling figures in WPL history.

The previous record was held by South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp, another fast-bowling all-rounder. Kapp took five wickets for just 15 runs against Gujarat Giants in the previous edition of WPL.

Perry comes MI batters' nightmare

Before taking a record-breaking six-wicket haul, Perry remained wicketless in the four matches she bowled. She was introduced after the powerplay overs. MI were 43/1 on the board with Hayley Matthews and S Sajana in the middle. She conceded just one run in her first over. In her second over, Perry was hit her for a boundary by Sajana. On the next ball, she brought the length ball into the wicket and beat Sajana's bat. She scored 30 runs from 21 balls.

On the next ball, MI skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was dismissed for a golden duck. She dragged one onto the stumps. In her third over Perry trapped Amelia Kerr in front of the stumps on the first ball. She could not get her bat on the nip-backer and got out lbw. Amanjot Kaur started with a boundary as Perry banged one short. But once again, Perry replied with a wicket. Amanjot got bowled as she chopped it into her stumps.

She took a catch off Sophie Devine's bowling.

MI post non-threatening total

Apart from Perry, Sophie Molineux, Devine, Asha Sobhana and Shreyanka Patil took one wicket each. MI were bowled out for 113 in 19 overs, their second-lowest total in WPL.
