The Delhi Capitals (DC) signed the likes of Laura Wolvaardt, Sree Charani, Sneh Rana and more in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction. Another one of their expensive buys was West Indies' Chinelle Henry, who was signed for a fee of INR 1.30 crore. They had come into the auction with a purse of INR 5.75 after they had retained Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Annabel Sutherland, Marizanne Kapp and Niki Prasad ahead of the auction.
The WPL auction is being held in New Delhi. A total of 276 players are set to go under the hammer while there are 73 slots available in the squads for the five franchises. This is the first time that a mega auction is being held in the tournament's history. Notably, the upcoming edition will be the WPL's fourth.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Capitals had reached the finals of WPL 2025, but had come out on the losing side after being defeated by the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians. In fact, the Delhi-based franchise have made the final of each and every season played so far, but have never come out on top. They had had a brilliant league stage last season and had finished at the top of the table with 10 points from eight games. It remains to be seen if they will be able to emerge victorious in the upcoming season of the tournament.
