Delhi Capitals have signed Australia leg-spinner Alana King as a replacement for all-rounder Annabel Sutherland ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026. Annabel Sutherland has been ruled out of the tournament due to personal reasons.
King recently produced one of the finest spells in Women’s Cricket World Cup history, with figures of 7/18 for Australia against South Africa. The 30-year-old has previously been part of the Women’s Premier League, having represented UP Warriorz, and has featured in 27 T20Is, taking 27 wickets.
Alana's last outing came in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) where she represented Perth Scorchers Women and picked up 12 wickets in 13 matches as the team finished runners-up.
Earlier, the Delhi-based franchise had appointed World Cup winner Jemimah Rodrigues as their skipper for the fourth season of the tournament.

WPL 2026 is scheduled to start from January 9, and the opener clash will take place at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Delhi Capitals will start their campaign against the Mumbai Indians.
