Delhi Capitals captain Jemimah Rodrigues lavished praise on her teammates after the franchise suffered a six-wicket defeat in the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Jemimah praised the character and determination shown by the players, support staff, and fans throughout the mega event.

Notably, Delhi Capitals have played the final in all four editions of the tournament, but the side failed to clinch a title as Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru won two titles each.
“I could not be more proud of this team. It was not easy for us, but the character our girls showed is something I can be proud of,” Rodrigues said during the post-match presentation.
She also thanked the backroom staff and supporters for their contribution. “The support staff has worked tirelessly for us. Every single person, even the fans all over the world, thank you so much for the support,” she added.
Reflecting on the final, Rodrigues felt that Delhi Capitals posted a strong total. “I think 204 in a final is a great score. Hats off to the way we played,” she said. “If ever we wanted our team to click, it was today, and we did that. Everyone fought hard and gave their all, and sometimes that is all that matters.”
Jemimah picked positives from WPL 2026
Despite the heartbreak of losing their fourth consecutive WPL final, she highlighted the positives from the season, especially the emergence of young players.
“The assessment has been great. It’s easier if you start a tournament well, but to pick yourself up shows character,” she said, mentioning youngsters like Niki, Rana, Nandani, and Minnu, who “showed the depth that is there in Indian cricket.”

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana led from the front, playing a match-winning 87 off 41 balls and shared a 165-run partnership for the second wicket with Georgia Voll, who scored 79 off 54 balls. This helped RCB chase down a challenging target of 204 runs. Mandhana’s 87 is also the highest individual score in a WPL final at the BCA Stadium.
