Harmanpreet Kaur led the Mumbai Indians to a dominating seven-wicket win over the Gujarat Giants, smashing a brilliant unbeaten 71 in what was the team’s highest successful chase in the Women’s Premier League so far. With this win, the franchise also maintained its unbeaten run against the Gujarat-based franchise.
GT posted a mammoth total
Gujarat Giants posted a challenging 192/5 thanks to late fireworks from Georgia Wareham (43*) and Bharti Fulmali (36*). Fulmali’s promotion up the order paid off as she smashed three sixes and three fours in just 15 balls, helping Gujarat add 49 runs in the final three overs.

Mumbai failed to get good start
While chasing, Mumbai failed to get a good start, losing both openers inside the power play for just 37 runs. But Harmanpreet Kaur and Amanjot Kaur steadied the innings with a quick 72-run partnership off 44 balls. Amanjot played aggressively, punishing anything loose with paddles and big shots to the boundaries, while Harmanpreet attacked with authority, lofting Renuka Singh and Ashleigh Gardner to keep Mumbai in the hunt.
Harmnapreet-led from the front
Harmanpreet brought up her 10th WPL half-century in just 33 balls and became the first Indian to reach 1,000 WPL runs. She finished unbeaten on 71 off 43 balls, with seven fours and two sixes. After Amanjot’s dismissal for 40 off 26 balls, Harmanpreet was joined by Nicola Carey, who added a quick 37* to guide Mumbai home. The duo put on an unbeaten 84-run stand off 43 balls, sealing the win with four balls to spare. Mumbai’s victory was made even more remarkable as Harmanpreet survived two early drops, making Gujarat pay dearly. The win strengthens Mumbai’s hold on a playoff spot.
Gujarat's performance
Earlier, Gujarat had a strong start thanks to Beth Mooney and Kanika Ahuja. Mooney raced to 32 off 24 balls, while Ahuja blasted 20 off nine deliveries, taking Gujarat to 62/1 in the powerplay. After Mooney was dismissed, Ashleigh Gardner and Ahuja kept the score ticking until Mumbai fought back, with Nicola Carey and Amelia Kerr picking up key wickets.
