India continue to dominate the T20I rankings with a strong lead at the top.

England and Australia remain close contenders, tightening the race among top teams.

India continue to dominate the shortest format of the game, retaining their No.1 spot in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings following another stellar run. The Asian powerhouse, led by Suryakumar Yadav, remains the benchmark in T20 cricket after a consistent stretch of success over the past two years.

India extend dominance at the summit

India sit comfortably at the top with 275 rating points, maintaining a narrow but firm lead over second-placed England, who trail with 262 points. Australia are not far behind either, holding third place with 258 points, tightening the competition among the top three sides.

The rankings update reflects performances since May 2025, with recent matches carrying full weightage, while results from the previous two years contribute at a reduced value. India’s sustained excellence in this period, including back-to-back T20 World Cup triumphs and an unbeaten run in bilateral series, has cemented their position at the summit.

Despite England slightly closing the gap, India’s consistency ensures they remain firmly in control, while Australia continue to strengthen their foothold just behind.

Minimal changes across top tier, emerging teams make gains

The remainder of the top seven remains unchanged, highlighting stability among cricket’s elite sides. New Zealand (247), South Africa (244), Pakistan (240), and West Indies (233) continue to occupy their respective positions, underlining a clear separation between the top teams and the chasing pack.

Further down, Bangladesh have made a small upward move to eighth place with 225 points, overtaking Sri Lanka, who slipped to ninth after a dip in rating points. Afghanistan remain close behind in 10th position, followed by Zimbabwe and Ireland, who hold steady at 11th and 12th.

Among the emerging sides, the United States have made notable progress, climbing to 13th after a significant ratings boost. Meanwhile, teams like Nepal and Oman have also improved their standings, reflecting growing competitiveness beyond the traditional powerhouses.

A standout development comes from Italy, who surged up the rankings after gaining valuable points, aided by a landmark victory in their T20 World Cup debut.

The latest update also saw a reduction in the total number of ranked teams, as a few nations dropped out due to not meeting participation criteria, emphasizing the importance of regular international fixtures.
