Widely regarded as one of the most influential voices in wildlife storytelling and environmental conservation, Attenborough turned 100 on May 8, sparking tributes and celebrations from fans, public figures, and organisations worldwide.

Over the decades, Sir David Attenborough has become synonymous with nature documentaries and climate awareness, inspiring generations through his iconic television work and advocacy for protecting the planet.

Rohit Sharma and Ritika Sajdeh pay tribute to Sir David Attenborough

Rohit Sharma’s wife, Ritika Sajdeh, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute for Attenborough on his special occasion. In her story, she hailed him as an inspiration and a global icon whose work has helped people better understand environmental issues and conservation.

"An inspiration, a hero, a legend. To make the world a better place, you first have to understand what's wrong and how you can fix it, and no one teaches that better than Sir David Attenborough."

The story was later reshared by Rohit Sharma as well, with the India skipper joining the worldwide celebrations honouring the legendary natural historian’s contribution to environmental awareness and education.

World celebrates Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday

The world marked Attenborough’s 100th birthday in several unique ways, including documentaries, concerts, wildlife events, and conservation-themed celebrations.

BBC organised a special live event at Royal Albert Hall to honour the veteran broadcaster’s extraordinary legacy. The event featured wildlife stories, reflections from environmental advocates, and musical performances from artists associated with Attenborough’s documentaries.

A separate virtual global concert was also organised by composers Pete Wyer, Brian Eno, and Pete Townshend, with choirs from different parts of the world participating to celebrate Attenborough’s environmental message.

The renowned broadcaster has spent decades educating audiences about the natural world through iconic projects such as Life on Earth and David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet. His work has consistently highlighted the dangers posed by climate change, habitat destruction, and human impact on biodiversity.

Several wildlife organisations and conservation groups also released tribute videos thanking Attenborough for his lifelong contribution to nature conservation, while the Attenborough Nature Reserve celebrated both his birthday and its 60th anniversary with special events and festivities.
