India's star all-rounder Rishi Dhawan has announced his retirement from limited-over cricket. Although, the 34-year-old fast-bowling all-rounder from Himachal Pradesh didn't get much exposure in international cricket, but he has an impressive track record in domestic cricket.

Rishi Dhawan retires from limited-over cricket

Rishi Dhawan's international career spanned four matches, three ODIs and one T20I. Notably he made his debut in Australia back in 2016.

However, Rishi Dhawan will continue playing first-class cricket. He will likely remain a key member of the Himachal Pradesh team for the remainder of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. Currently second in Group B, Himachal are in contention for a quarterfinals berth. Dhawan has been a key contributor this season, featuring in all five matches. He has tonked 397 runs at an impressive average of 79.40 and picked 11 wickets at an average of 28.45.

Rishi took to social media to announce his retirement. He said that he has taken this big decision with heavy heart but with no regret

"It's with a heavy heart, even though I have no regrets, that I'd like to announce my retirement from Indian cricket (Limited over). It's a sport that has defined my life for the past 20 years. This game has given me immeasurable joy and countless memories that would always stay very close to my heart," Dhawan wrote on his Instagram post.

"I want to take a moment to show my gratitude towards the opportunities that were given to me by Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. From humble beginnings to representing my nation on the grandest stages, it has been a privilege beyond measure. Cricket has been my passion, and my reason for waking up every morning," his post further read.

"I would like to thank all of my coaches, mentors, teammates, and support staff for the valuable contributions you have made to shaping me into the person I am today," Rishi signed off.

Rishi Dhawan's impressive domestic career

Talking about Rishi Dhawan's domestic career, in a total of 134 List A matches, he picked 186 wickets at an average of 29.74 and also amassed 2906 runs at an average of 38.23, including a century. In 135 T20 matches, he has taken 118 wickets at an average of 26.44 and an economy rate of 7.06, while also contributing 1740 runs at a strike rate of 121.33.

One of Dhawan's career highlights was leading Himachal Pradesh to their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy title in 2021-2022. Notably, he became the first player in the competition's history to finish among the top five run-scorers and wicket-takers in the same season. He scored 458 runs and claimed 17 wickets in eight matches, contributing significantly to Himachal's historic victory. This remains their only domestic title to date.

As far as his Indian Premier League (IPL) journey is concerned, Dhawan represented Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) from 2014 to 2024 and Mumbai Indians in 2013, claiming 25 wickets and scoring 210 runs in 39 matches.

However, he failed to attract any bidders in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah and he remained unsold.
