Ange Postecoglou's tenure at Tottenham Hotspur took a positive turn as they clinched an exhilarating 2-0 victory over Manchester United. The win was anchored by Pape Sarr’s splendid strike and an unfortunate own goal from Lisandro Martinez.

Tottenham, who recently saw their star player Harry Kane move to Bayern Munich, needed a boost. Former Celtic head coach Postecoglou seems to be the beacon of hope the Spurs fans needed. Despite a rocky year, this victory showcased Tottenham's revitalized spirit.

The Manchester side, under Erik ten Hag, started aggressively. Persistent chatter about Mason Greenwood’s future loomed in the backdrop. United dominated early on, and felt aggrieved when VAR dismissed a handball appeal against Cristian Romero. The first half saw both Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes squandering promising opportunities.

Tottenham gained momentum with Pedro Porro's shot striking the crossbar, and soon after, a Sarr cross, deflected by Luke Shaw, hit the post.

Emerging reenergized after the break, Tottenham's efforts bore fruit when Sarr scored in the 49th minute, capitalizing on a deflection from a Dejan Kulusevski delivery.

The match was alive with back-and-forth action. Antony's attempt rattled the post in what became a frenetic beginning to the second half. As the game progressed, an own goal by Martinez cemented Tottenham's lead and eventual victory.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium echoed with jubilant cheers as they recorded their maiden home win against Manchester United. Postecoglou's leadership received accolades from fans, despite earlier protests regarding ticket prices.

Manchester United had their moments. Rashford nearly secured an early lead, thwarted by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. Fernandes's flair was evident in an audacious rabona cross, but Rashford’s subsequent header was deemed offside. The Red Devils' captain missed another clear chance, heading awry from close range. Tottenham, in contrast, showed resilience and attacking prowess, culminating in Sarr's pivotal goal.

The match's dynamism persisted. Antony nearly equalized for United, only to be denied by the post. Spurs responded fiercely, but a strong save by United's Andre Onana and dismissed penalty claims kept the scoreline intact.

Towards the end, Spurs' Ivan Perisic and Ben Davies came on, with the latter inadvertently assisting in Martinez's own goal. United attempted a comeback, but their efforts were disjointed. Raphael Varane’s late strike was ruled offside, as Spurs celebrated a defining win under Postecoglou's guidance.
