Inter Milan has acquired Yann Sommer, the primary goalkeeper for the Switzerland national football team, from Bayern Munich. Although the specifics of the contract and transfer amount remain undisclosed, Italian press speculations put the transfer fee at around six million euros.

At 34 years old, Sommer transferred to Bayern Munich earlier this year, stepping in for the injured Bundesliga star, Manuel Neuer. Inter Milan has hailed Sommer, characterizing him as someone who was destined to be a goalkeeper. They lauded his rich experience, commanding presence, and commitment, which he's set to offer to the Nerazzurri side.

Following the sale of Andre Onana to Manchester United for a projected 51 million euros ($56.13 million) in July, Simone Inzaghi's Inter Milan was on the lookout for new goalkeeping talent. Additionally, the club bid farewell to Samir Handanovic and Alex Cordaz, and also loaned Ionut Radu of Romania to AFC Bournemouth recently.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, the CEO of Bayern, showed comprehension and regard for Sommer's ambition to embark on a fresh journey with Inter Milan, hoping to solidify his role as the premier goalkeeper. Dreesen expressed gratitude to Sommer for his dedication and support during Neuer's critical injury period.

Before joining Bayern from Borussia Moenchengladbach and aiding in securing Bayern's 33rd league title this season, Sommer had an impressive run with FC Basel, bagging four Swiss Super League victories consecutively from 2010-11. Having debuted in a friendly against Romania in May 2012, Sommer has donned the Swiss jersey in more than 80 matches.
