Bruno Fernandes’ X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked after Manchester United’s 1-2 FA Cup loss against Brighton in the FA Cup. Following this, the club was compelled to release an official statement to clarify the situation and tweets made by the account of the player. This came just hours after the Red Devils were knocked out of the tournament. Following the loss, United’s hopes of winning a trophy this season were all but extinguished
Man Utd releases statement as Bruno Fernandes’ account gets hacked after FA Cup exit
In the number of tweets, one of the bizarre posts read:
“Join Macclesfield FC. Excited for the future."
The Portuguese, in terms of the number of tweets, then posted about getting rid of INEOS, the company that co-owns Manchester United through Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The account also wrote derogatory remarks about female footballer Alisha Lehmann, social media star KSI, and adult film actress Bonnie Blue, as per a report in the Mirror.
This made United come forward and release a statement shortly after Fernandes’ account was hacked. The club statement asked the followers not to engage with the posts or the messages. The club wrote:
"Supporters should not engage with any of the posts or direct messages."
Meanwhile, the hacker replied to the club statement:
"f*** no way, i'll spread the word.”
As of now, all the tweets published by the hacker have been removed, which was a bit of a relief for the player after his side’s exit from the FA Cup. The 13-time FA Cup winners recently sacked their head coach, Ruben Amorim, at Old Trafford as they move towards another trophyless season.
