Burnley football club manager has been in the limelight since his appointment, and the reason is very legitimate. The club has appointed former defender and coach Michael Jackson, popularly known as Mike Jackson, as interim manager for the club’s remaining Premier League match, following the mutual departure of Scott Parker after the side’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed.
The news drew significant online attention, partly because the manager shares his name with the late pop icon Michael Jackson, sparking a wave of memes and humorous reactions across social media amid the super-hit Michael movie's release, which is based on the Bad singer’s biography.
Burnley appoints Michael Jackson as head coach ahead of last Premier League clash
Jackson, who previously served as interim boss in 2022, will take charge immediately as the Clarets prepare to finish the season. Jackson, born in 1973, enjoyed success in his early caretaker role, guiding Burnley to three wins and one draw in four games, earning him the Premier League Manager of the Month award.
The former player’s familiarity with the club and playing squad is expected to provide stability during the final stretch of a difficult campaign. The club has not yet announced plans for a permanent managerial appointment ahead of next season in the second tier.
Burnley currently sit near the bottom of the Premier League table, with their relegation sealed in recent weeks despite earlier promise under Parker. Jackson’s short-term task will be to ensure the team ends the season with pride and competitive performances.
