Story Highlights:

Chelsea icon Ruud Gullit lauds Jurrien Timber’s resilience after injury, calling him a “fantastic player” and a key figure in Arsenal’s defence.

Gullit also backs Noni Madueke’s work rate, though admits the winger remains behind Bukayo Saka in Arsenal’s pecking order.

Chelsea icon Ruud Gullit has picked Jurrien Timber as the Arsenal player he likes. He says that the Dutch player gives everything in his game and does not complain on the pitch when things go wrong.

Ruud Gullit reveals why likes Arsenal's Jurrien Timber

Interacting with Gabling Insider, Gullit said that the Timber has overcome his injury issues at the Emirates and he is happy to see the former Ajax star performing well at the club. He appreciated the defender as a tough player who has become one of the finest players in the league and said:

"One player I really like at Arsenal is Jurrien Timber. He is very strong and looks convincing in everything he does. He is a fantastic player and one of the finest in the division, which you have to be to be a regular starter in Arsenal's defence at the moment. I saw him in the youth teams at Ajax and he was always a good, strong player."

"I like the way he plays. He doesn't moan, he gets on with his job and is a real team player. As well as that, he is so clever tactically and talented technically. He had a real setback with that long-term injury when he first joined Arsenal, but he has bounced back from that and adapted to the Premier League so well."

Jurrien Timber picked up an ACL injury on his Premier League debut in August 2023 and was out for eight months. He has made the right-back spot his own.

Ruud Gullit appreciates Arsenal winger after difficult start

Ruud Gullit also talked about Nono Madueke, appreciating the former Chelsea player for his performances. However, he admitted that the winger will not be able to take Bukayo Saka's place from the starting XI and said:

"Noni Madueke is a good player, but he is having to play second fiddle to Bukayo Saka when both players are fit. If both are fit, Madueke is on the bench. When he is on the pitch, however, he is very handy and always a big threat, and I actually think one thing that stands out about him is how hard he works."

Gullit went on to say that Madueke is doing a thankless job because his efforts without the ball often go unnoticed. The winger has one goal and as many assists in the Premier League this season, while scoring three in the UEFA Champions League.
