Co-hosts Canada kicked off their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Bosnia & Herzegovina at Toronto Stadium on Friday.
Bosnia took an early lead in the 21st minute when Jovo Lukic found the net, capitalizing on a set-piece or early pressure to silence much of the home crowd. However, the lead didn't last in the second half.

The Canadians, backed by a passionate home crowd, pushed hard for an equalizer throughout the match. Their persistence paid off in the 78th minute when substitute Cyle Larin struck shortly after coming on.
The Canadian star clinically finished a move involving Promise David to send the stadium into celebration and help his side come back from a 0-1 deficit. However, neither team was able to take the lead in the second half.
The result leaves both teams with one point from their Group B opener. Canada showed character in fighting back from behind in their first-ever home World Cup match, while Bosnia demonstrated defensive resilience to hold on for a valuable away point.
The draw sets up an intriguing continuation for the tournament co-hosts as they look to advance from the group stage in front of their home supporters.
