Joan Laporta is not happy with FIFA and has called out the governing body for its schedule. The Spanish giants will be without their star player, Raphinha, during a crucial point of the season.

The Brazilian picked up an injury during his side’s friendly against France, after which the winger was forced off at halftime. It was confirmed that the player suffered a right hamstring issue, following which he will miss several important fixtures. This has raised some serious concerns in the club, and President Laport has all the blame on FIFA.

Laporta spoke to Món Esport (via MD) and raised his concerns about the calendar. He said:

“In some way we should demand FIFA to make an international calendar that takes into account the competitions that the most important clubs have.”

Laporta added:

"It is true that in a friendly match between France and Brazil in the United States, one of our best players in the squad getting injured is very annoying.”

Barcelona president continued:

“And it’s clear, you can’t transfer the responsibility of not playing to the player either, because they are professionals and, moreover, they play for their country and give everything.”

Meanwhile, the Champions League will be back next week after the international week, as all 48 teams have now been confirmed for the FIFA World Cup 2026. Barcelona is all set to face Diego Simeone’s side in a blockbuster fixture at Camp Nou for their first leg encounter.
