Manchester United could not salvage their abysmal season as they lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday at the San Mames. Brennan Johnson scored the lone goal of the match, as Spurs claimed a 1-0 victory to lift the championship. Following the culmination of the game, United manager Ruben Amorim addressed the topic related to his future at the club.

Ruben Amorim On His Future After Europa League Loss
Given that both Man United and Tottenham Hotspur endured disastrous league seasons, the Europa League final was a winner-takes-all encounter. Spurs, who are 17th in the EPL standings, have now qualified for next year's Champions League and also won a whopping sum, which could be used for the betterment of the club.
Manchester United, on the other hand, were left with disappointment. Having gone trophyless and certain to finish near the relegation zone, the 2024-25 season can be hailed as one of the worst in the rich history of the club. Normally, a season like this leaves a manager sacked, but considering the situation at the club, where Amorim wasn't given the leeway to make his signings after arriving and had to play the worn-out squad left by Erik ten Hag, an exception can be made on this occasion. However, Amorim is willing to accept his fate in case the club decides that his time is up.
“I will not quit. I am confident in my job and I will not change anything. If the board or fans feel that I’m not the right guy, I will go the next day without any conversation about compensation… but I will NOT quit”. Amorim said following the end of the game.
While it is a new low for United, trusting the manager and giving him at least one full season, along with the liberty to make signings, could be the first step on the journey of miles.
