But, with given time he has found his rhythm and remains one of the key players for the team in search of a silverware.

After scoring in the 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, March 9, Mbappe joins an elite group of players who have scored 29 or more goals in their debut season for Real Madrid. The elite list includes some of the big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo Nazario, Davor Suker, Ivan Zamorano and Hugo Sanchez.

The 26-year-old forward was at the receiving end after his poor outings against Real Betis and arch-rivals Atletico Madrid. But, reaching this milestone underscores his influence in a relatively short period of time that he has spent with the Spanish giants and further solidify his legacy as one of the best players in the world.

The record for most goals in a debut season for Real Madrid belongs to Ivan Zamorano. In his debut season for the La Liga side, he netted 39 goals. Mbappe has 29 goals in 41 appearances and still has time on his side to better his tally and even break the record held by Zamorano.

Kylian Mbappe may surpass Cristiano Ronaldo's stats from first season

Both Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at the La Casa Blanca as established stars. Mbappe was the hometown hero while playing for the PSG and Ronaldo made a name for himself at the theatre of dreams (Manchester United). Mbappe is well on track to surpass Ronaldo's tally from his debut season.

During the 2009-10 season, Ronaldo scored 33 goals and had registered 10 assists in 35 games. Despite his brilliance on the field, Real Madrid went trophyless that year as they crashed out of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 and finished second behind Barcelona in the La Liga.

However, Mbappe has recorded 29 goals and has 4 assists in the 41 matches he has played so far this season. Madrid have already secured the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup as they are in contention for the Champions League and the league title as well.
