Story Highlights:

Liverpool are eyeing to sign Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne after the conclusion of 2024-25 season.

Kevin de Bruyne has made 285 appearances in the Premier League for both Manchester City and Chelsea.

So far in this year's campaign, Kevin de Bruyne has only featured in 36 matches across competitions.

Liverpool have reportedly offered a contract to Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne after the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. De Bruyne has been considered as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League as he will be leaving Manchester City at the end of the season.

Liverpool wants to sign Kevin de Bruyne

Last month, De Bruyne revealed that his time at Manchester City has come to an end as he will leave the franchise as a free agent. Teams such as Chicago Fire and few Saudi Pro League teams have shown interest in signing the Belgium star.

But, famous journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Liverpool are eyeing to sign Kevin de Bruyne this summer. They have already made a contract offer to the star. However, Serie A club Napoli are also interested in signing De Bruyne.

Last month, De Bruyne opened up about his future and said,

You have to accept people taking decisions. I told them that I still think I have a lot to give. Obviously I know I'm not 25 anymore but I feel like I'm doing my job. It came as a bit of a shock. I'm open for anything [including staying in the Premier League]. I have to look at the whole picture, sporting, family, everything together, what makes the most sense. I know I can play at a good level.

Kevin de Bruyne has already cemented his legacy in the Premier League and he could be on his way to Liverpool, if his demands are met by the Reds. The 33-year-old star has made 285 appearances in the Premier League for both Manchester City and Chelsea. During his time in the Premier League, he has scored 72 goals and has 121 assists to his name.

Former Manchester United star thinks Liverpool could sign Kevin de Bruyne

Former Manchester United star Lee Sharpe feels that Kevin de Bruyne could be a stellar signing for the Reds. While talking to Stadium Astro, he said,

I can see him staying in Europe. Over the last couple of weeks, he's got himself fully fit again, and he's come out and said he's playing pain-free for the first time in a while which is a huge thing for any player and I think we're seeing him at his best. He's got to the age where he's enjoying every second of it because he knows it's coming to an end.

Not just this, Sharpe even revealed that De Bruyne could shine at Liverpool.

I think he could be worth a gamble for Liverpool. I remember Gary McAllister going there towards the end of his career and coming on and just dictating things and keeping things calm. He could get a one-year deal with an extension if he stays fit, and he wouldn't have to play every game because of the strength of their squad they've got there. He could play in certain games, Sharpe concluded.

If Kevin de Bruyne signs for Liverpool, then he would share minutes with the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai. He could be seen playing in a much more deeper role in Arne Slot's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. So far in this year's campaign, Kevin de Bruyne has only featured in 36 matches across competitions as 15 of them came as a substitute.
