Real Madrid have faced another big blow as star midfielder, Jude Bellingham will stay on the sidelines for a minimum period of two months because of injury. The English player was forced off in the initial stages of his side's 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga earlier this month.
Big blow for Real Madrid
A report from journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon has disclosed that while it was initially hoped by Real Madrid that Bellingham would be out for a month, he could spend longer on the sidelines. As per the journalist (via Marca), the star midfielder could be out for a month longer than it was previously estimated with his hamstring injury.
Jude Bellingham was in the starting XI to lock horns against Rayo Vallecano but played for only ten minutes before he pulled up holding the back of his thigh. The 22-year-old was replaced by Brahim Diaz, who assisted the first goal and won the penalty for his team's late winner.
Injury at wrong time for Jude Bellingham
Real Madrid missed Bellingham's services for their win over Valencia last weekend, and will be without the former Borussia Dortmund player for a number of crucial matches. He will likely miss both legs of their UEFA Champions League playoffs against Benfica, as well as their derby meeting with Atletico Madrid on March 22nd.
Bellingham has been playing regularly this season under both Alvaro Arbeloa and his predecessor Xabi Alonso. The England international has played 34 games this season, scoring seven goals and giving five assists for his side across all competitions.
Real Madrid star defender holds talks with coach after exclusion
Real Madrid skipper Dani Carvajal has held talks with coach Alvaro Arbeloa after he was excluded from the team that faced Valencia last weekend, according to reports. The experienced right-back was an unused substitute for Los Blancos as they secured a 2-0 win away from home.
Marca claims that Carvajal had a discussion with Arbeloa during Tuesday's training session, with both parties clearing their air ahead of the remainder of the season. The situation between them has been put to bed and they are set to move on from it.
Arbeloa chose to play David Jimenez from the start at the Mestalla before bringing on Trent Alexander-Arnold in the second half for his team. Carvajal stayed on the bench as he often has under the new coach. The 34-year-old right-back has played two games, both off the bench, for Los Blancos since Arbeloa took over last month.
