The UEFA Champions League will be back following the conclusion of the international break, ahead of the 2026 World Cup. Bayern Munich is drawn against a tough opponent, Real Madrid, in the quarterfinals of the UCL.

The 32-year-old star will miss Bayern Munich's Bundesliga match against SC Freiburg on Saturday after sustaining an ankle injury while on international duty with England. The striker picked up the minor issue during training with the Three Lions and was rested as a precaution for England's friendly against Japan.

Bayern's medical staff have opted not to risk the club's star forward in the domestic fixture, prioritizing his recovery instead. His injury has meanwhile raised a huge concern for the club as they face the 15-time UCL champions next week. Head coach Vincent Kompany has provided a huge update on the situation.

Bayern coach Kompany confirmed Kane will not be available for the trip to Freiburg but expressed optimism that the England captain will be fit for Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. He said:

"Harry trained well until Sunday, then he felt something in his ankle while with the national team. That will have an impact on tomorrow's game; he won't be available.”

The Bundesliga team’s head coach added:

"Nevertheless, I'm positive about Tuesday. It's not great, I'd like him to play against Freiburg, but as things stand today that won't be possible."

The decision comes as Bayern sit comfortably atop the Bundesliga standings with a significant lead, allowing them to rotate and focus resources on the high-stakes European tie. Kane has recorded 78 international goals and is a key member of the squad in both his national and club sides.
