Pep Guardiola has once again showcased his trademark wit and defiance, sarcastically addressing mounting criticism over Manchester City's limited Champions League success in recent years. The City boss was asked about him potentially leaving the team, and here is how the Spanish manager responded after his UEFA Champions League exit.
Guardiola on leaving Man City after UCL exit
When asked about his exit from the English Premier League side, Guardiola replied:
“Oh, everybody wants to fire me, right?!”
The former FC Barcelona manager added:
“One day I will come here and say: Bye bye, guys! And still I'm here, one more year of contract.”
Guardiola is one of the managers under fire following the performance of the team. The team’s Premier League chances have become almost impossible as Arsenal are now clear favourites to lift the title.
Additionally, the team suffered a 1-2 (1-5 ag) loss to Real Madrid in the UCL, after which they were eliminated from the competition. Following the disappointing season, it appears that the Catan coach has no intention of making any final decision so far.
