Pep Guardiola has revealed what he told Real Madrid star Rodrygo after Manchester City’s 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu. Rodrgo opened the goal scoring, but it was overshadowed by O'Reilly’s strike and Erling Haaland’s penalty.
Despite the loss, Rodrygo’s brilliant finish was something that left Guardiola in awe. It is no secret that the Los Blancos player was recently linked to the Premier League side, and here is what the Spanish coach told him after the game.
Guardiola’s message to Rodrygo after Real Madrid vs Man City UCL clash
Guardiola was in full praise of the Brazilian winger and spoke to Movistar+, where he commended the player's effort and quality. The City boss said:
“I went to Rodrygo and I told him: what a player you are… he’s really unbelievable”.
Rodrygo’s name was heavily linked with a move to the EPL side during the 2025 summer transfer window. The Brazil international had not scored since March 4, 2025, in the Champions League against Atlético Madrid. Which means, it was 281 days without a goal in the white shirt just to score against City. However, it was not enough to escape the loss at home.

Meanwhile, it was seen that the player went on to Xabi Alonso and hugged him to show the under-fire head coach his support. Meanwhile, the 15-time UCL champions will face Alaves next in Week 16 of La Liga competition. On the other hand, City, who are second in the Premier League, will play Crystal Palace next in the league.
