An English Premier League coach has revealed which club in the league is the hardest to manage. The year saw several managers being sacked, with multiple football bosses’ jobs under fire following the struggling form of the clubs. Amidst this, here is what this PL manager thinks is the toughest job.
Premier League coach reveals managing THIS club is ‘hardest job’ in world football
Angelos Postecoglou, a Premier League-experienced coach, formerly of Tottenham Hotspur and briefly Nottingham Forest, has described the Manchester United managerial role as "the hardest job in world football" during an interview on The Overlap with Gary Neville.
Ange, who was sacked by Forest in October, stated, during the aforementioned podcast, that managing Manchester United is the toughest job. He said:
"That is the hardest job in world football as far as I'm concerned, because the scrutiny that the club has and the spotlight it's under consistently.”
The 60-year-old explained it due to the intense scrutiny, constant spotlight, and the massive historical expectations, especially post-Sir Alex Ferguson era, saying it would require "a unique individual" to succeed there.
Ruben Amorim was sacked in the New Year, 14 months after his tenure with the Red Devils. It came after the team finished 15th in the Premier League in 2024-25 and lost in the Europa League final to Postecoglou and his then-side Spurs.
Michael Carrick has taken over the job at the club as of now, powering the side to fourth in the league. The club has not yet confirmed his long-term status; however, the Englishman has recently revealed his desire to stay beyond this season.
