Real Madrid has been in the headlines once again, not for something good but for something not good going on within the team. The Spanish giants confirmed disciplinary proceedings had been opened against their midfielders following the heated argument that went too far.

Real Madrid fines Tchouaméni and Valverde €500,000 each after training ground altercation

The club has imposed €500,000 fines on midfielders Aurélien Tchouaméni and Federico Valverde following a physical altercation at the club's Valdebebas training ground on Thursday, the club announced Friday.

The total penalty amounts to €1 million. Valverde required hospital treatment for a cut on his forehead after the clash, which reportedly escalated in the dressing room.

Both players have apologized to the club and their teammates. Real Madrid stated that, in view of these circumstances and the apologies, it has decided to impose the financial penalties, "thus concluding the corresponding internal procedures."

No sporting sanctions, such as suspensions, were applied. Tchouaméni participated in Friday's training, while Valverde has been ruled out for Sunday's El Clásico against Barcelona due to the injury.

The incident comes at a sensitive time for Real Madrid as they prepare for key fixtures. The club moved quickly to handle the matter internally, stating a resolution over further punishment. Valverde had earlier posted on social media downplaying the event.
