Sevilla went on to dominate the first half in which Alexis Sanchez converted the penalty kick against his former club. Later, Romero, after missing two clear chances finally netted at the 37th minute without a mistake. Barcelona, however, equalised when Pedri’s pinpoint cross found Marcus Rashford, and the English footballer converted it to make it 2-1. Nevertheless, this wasn't enough for the Catalans as they also missed a penalty in the second half.

Sevilla went on to capitalise on the opponent’s missed opportunity while they were already leading. Jose Angel Carmona scored at the stoppage time while substitute Akor Adams added a fourth to seal the win against the visitors.

Flick’s team has been suffering from a long list of injuries with several key players sidelined, putting Flick’s plans under strain. Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gavi, Raphinha, Joan Garcia, Fermin Lopez, and Lamine Yamal have all been ruled out.
