Good news for Spain's national football team as they received a significant boost on Thursday. Lamine Yamal rejoined full group training with the national team. The 18-year-old winger had been sidelined since suffering a left hamstring tear late in April. His recovery was carefully managed through a phased program coordinated between Barcelona and Spanish national team medical staff.
Lamine Yamal returns to full training with Spain ahead of 2026 World Cup
Following Yamal’s return to full training, it's a positive development for coach Luis de la Fuente as Spain prepares for the footballing major on the biggest stage. Yamal’s presence strengthens an already talented Spanish attack heading into Group H, which includes Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia, and Uruguay.
However, expectations are that the youngster will be given limited minutes in Spain’s opening match against Cape Verde on June 15 to ensure he is fully fit for the tournament. The return of one of football’s brightest young talents adds excitement to Spain’s World Cup campaign.
Meanwhile, Spain is all set to open their 2026 World Cup campaign, co-hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada, on July 15 against Cape Verde. They will then face Saudi Arabia on July 21. Spain is one of the favourites to win the World Cup this year, and Yamal’s addition to the squad just makes it even better.
