Khabib Nurmagomedov has openly criticised Real Madrid for firing the head coach Xabi Alonso after the Los Blancos lost the Supercopa title to rivals FC Barcelona in the Spanish Supercup. The UFC icon questioned the loyalty of the club towards Alonso and took a dig at the players.
UFC icon Khabib calls out Real Madrid for firing head coach Xabi Alonso
Khabib took over his official social media account to call out the Spanish giants, where he wrote:
“There is nothing like loyalty. 1 year ago they begged him, now they fired him because of spoiled KIDS.”
The former UFC superstar provided his support for the now former coach Alonso and said:
“Xabi, you are the BEST.”
The MMA legend has often talked about football and shows his support for the 15-time UEFA Champions League winners. However, this time, Khabib seemed not be impressed by the club's decision to sack their head coach mid-season.
Real Madrid, who are second in La Liga, recently stated that Alonso had left the club following mutual agreement. It came after the club’s 2-3 loss to the arch rivals, which turned out to be his last match as their manager.
Madrid filled the vacancy immediately after appointing reserve team head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, who was promoted to the first-team role. However, the length and terms of his contract aren’t clear.
