Paris Saint-Germain has successfully defended the UEFA Champions League title by defeating Arsenal 4-3 on penalties in the final at Puskas Arena. It was a huge heartbreak for the Gunners as they lost yet another final of the only two they have reached so far.
Meanwhile, following the long-awaited final, which was won by the Ligue 1 side, several awards were announced, including the Champions League Player of the Season.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia wins Champions League Player of the Year award
Just one day after Luis Enriqu’s side defended their UCL title with a dramatic penalty shootout victory in Budapest, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been named the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Player of the Season by the UEFA Technical Observer Group.
The 25-year-old Georgian winger, who joined PSG from Napoli in January 2025, delivered a sensational campaign that cemented his status as one of world football's most electrifying talents. In 16 appearances (1,141 minutes), Kvaratskhelia scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists, totaling 16 direct goal contributions, the highest in the competition.
The PSG star’s influence was particularly devastating in the knockout stages, where he became the first player in Champions League history to record a goal contribution in seven consecutive games. Standout moments included a stunning curled goal in the semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich and winning the decisive penalty in the final that helped PSG equalize.
