Story Highlights:

Rooney says Arsenal are now favorites to win the Premier League with their depth and experience.

Gary Neville also backed Arsenal to clinch the title, calling them the most consistent team in England.

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney thinks Arsenal will replace Mikel Arteta if they do not win the Premier League title this season. He said that the Gunners have no excuse this season, as they are the favorites and have a dependable squad that can react well under the pressure.

Speaking on his BBC show, Rooney said that Arsenal are winning matches and should lift the title this season. He has warned Arteta that he needs to get the club over the line this season, or else he could face the threat of being sacked, and said:

"They've got a good squad and good players. Mikel Arteta has been waiting and has been very close. They've tallied up some very good points in some of those seasons which in other years would have been good enough to win the title. Arteta has got a squad now where they're really expected to win the league. They grind out results, they're physical, they've got good attacking players, they're so solid at the back."

"They've become the favourites. They've been top before and not won it and that's the pressure, can you be top of the league and stay there? I think they can. The squad is good enough now and I think they've had the experiences which have got them close, but I think they're ready for it, I think they're ready to do it. There's no excuses now, there's no excuse. If they don't win it now, you'd probably see a change of manager."

Arsenal are on top of the Premier League standings with 22 points from nine games, four points clear of second-placed AFC Bournemouth.

Garry Neville supports Arsenal to win the Premier League

Manchester United icon Gary Neville has picked Arsenal to lift the Premier League title this season. He believes that Arsenal  are 'miles better' than the other clubs, but have shown consistency and said on his podcast (via GOAL):

"This has got to be them, hasn't it? This has got to be their year. This is the fourth season on the bounce that I've had them win the league, but they're not necessarily miles better, they're repeating their levels of consistency, and that's all they're going to have to do this year to win the league."

Arsenal take on Brighton & Hove Albion next in the fourth round of the Champions League before going to face Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday, November 1.
