Anne Hathaway reveals reason behind her support for Arsenal
In a recent interview with the BBC, Hathaway revealed the origins of her love for Arsenal Football Club. The Academy Award winner stated that it all came from her father, who has been a supporter of the English club.
As she spoke during the promotion of The Devil Wears Prada 2, Hathaway stated:
“There was this team called the ‘Invincibles’, arguably the greatest side ever, with Thierry Henry leading it.”
Hathaway added:
“My dad was watching a match, with James McAvoy narrating, and that was it he became an Arsenal fan. And once someone in the family picks a team, everyone follows.”
The Hollywood star added:
“We’ve got a great squad, and if anyone’s going to do it, it’s this team. North London forever whatever the weather.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal has just been overtaken by Manchester City at the top of the table following Pep Guardiola’s side’s 1-0 win over Burnley this week. The Gooners, on the other hand are coming off a 1-2 loss against the Sky Blues at the Etihad Stadium. City will next face Southampton, while Mikel Arteta’s squad will take on Newcastle United.
