Liverpool, AC Milan or Atletico Madrid? Who will miss out on knockout stage of Champions League

SportsTak

It will be a make-or-break night in the Champions League (CL) for the likes of Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Porto as the final round of fixtures heats the battle. The games will be played simultaneously as only one of the three teams makes it through to the Knock-outs. It will all go down to the wire in group B as only one point separates three teams; Liverpool are already through as group winners.

Seven-times champions AC Milan will host six-time champions, Liverpool, at the San Siro, the two rivals have a rich history and will square off one another one more time. Stefano Pioli’s side sits top of the pile in the Italian Serie A but have been disappointing in the CL with only four points in five games and will go into the match with heads held high as they overcame Atletico Madrid in the last round of CL.

Two champions Porto will have their destiny in their own hands; a win for the Portugal side will see them through. Atletico Madrid will have to bring their A-game to the bench as Simeone’s side has failed to replicate their form from recent seasons. The two teams aren’t enjoying the best form in front of the goal as they have scored only seven goals in between them.

What needs to happen for Qualification

Porto – A win will see the former champions through no matter what happens at San Siro between Milan and Liverpool.

AC Milan – A win for Milan, coupled with a draw or a loss for Porto; failure to win against Liverpool will see them get knocked out.

Atletico Madrid – A win for Atletico and a draw or a loss for Milan will see them through.

Elsewhere, group A is all settled as Manchester City are through as group winners while PSG have secured qualification as group runner-up. Ajax have won group C and will be joined by Sporting Lisbon as Borussia Dortmund will continue their journey in Europa League. Real Madrid on the other hand can see win group D with a draw against Inter Milan as both are already through.
