India continued their dominant performance at the FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup 2025 as they notched up another scintillating victory with a massive 17-0 win against Oman in their Pool B encounter on November 29.
India devastate Oman 17-0 in Hockey Junior World Cup
Following a convincing 7-0 defeat of Chile in their previous outing, India's attacking prowess was fully unleashed in this match. Hat-tricks were scored by Manmeet Singh (17', 26', 36'), Arshdeep Singh (4', 33', 40'), and Dilraj Singh (29', 32', 58'), while Anmol Ekka (29'), Ajeet Yadav (34', 47'), Gurjot Singh (39', 45'), Ingalemba Thounaojam Luwang (43', 50'), and Sarda Nand Tiwari (55') all contributed to the final scoreline. This victory places India firmly on top of the Pool B points table with an impressive total of 24 goals, ahead of Switzerland.
The opening quarter, however, started as a contrast to the final score. Although Oman conceded an early goal in the 4th minute to Arshdeep Singh, who scored a fine field goal, they defended well in the subsequent minutes, managing to slow down India's attacking momentum. Consequently, India found no clear chances to extend their lead, and the first quarter ended with just the single goal.India returned from the two-minute break with renewed attacking vigour.
Manmeet Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Dilraj Singh shine bright with hat-trick apiece
Within three minutes of the second quarter, they scored their second goal through Manmeet Singh, a young forward whose performance was instrumental in creating numerous opportunities for the team. This quarter saw three goals scored in total, effectively setting the momentum for India's eventual high-scoring game. Manmeet scored again in the 26th minute, quickly followed by Anmol and Dilraj joining the scoresheet with their 29th-minute goals, ballooning India's lead to a splendid 5-0 by the end of the first half.
India entered the third quarter in absolute command and managed to overcome their earlier struggles in converting Penalty Corners (PCs). Their attack was relentless, drilling four more goals in the span of just five minutes. During this period, Manmeet Singh completed his well-deserved hat-trick, while Dilraj and Arshdeep Singh continued their goal-scoring spree, netting two goals each. A total of three more goals followed in this quarter, putting Oman under intense pressure as their defense proved helpless against the relentless barrage from the Indian forward line.
With the score standing at an overwhelming 12-0 going into the final quarter, the rest of the match was largely a formality. India proceeded to score five more goals in the final fifteen minutes. Unfortunately for Oman, despite starting the match positively, they could not maintain their defensive momentum. Although they managed to earn a Penalty Corner, they failed to convert it. Meanwhile, the Indian goalies once again came through with flying colors, maintaining a pristine clean sheet throughout the match.
