The clashes between India and Pakistan are always high voltage irrespective of the sport barring javelin throw. The Asian Champions Trophy 2024 clash was no different as a harsh tackle led to a heated exchange between Indian and Pakistan players on Chinese soil. 
 

The incident took place in the 50th minute when India were leading 2-1. Pakistan were on counter-attack but they made a mess of opportunity. In the Indian D, Ashraf Rana's harsh tackle led to Jugraj Singh fall on the ground. Amad Butt even pushed Jarmanpreet Singh during a verbal spat which was intervened by the referees. 
 

The video referee punished Rana for the mistimed tackle. He received a yellow card and had to leave the field for 10 minutes. Pakistan played with 10 men for the remainder of the game. In the 58th minute, Manpreet Singh was awarded a five-minute yellow card but Pakistan failed to find an equaliser against the defending champions.

Goal-scorers of India vs Pakistan clash

India continued their dominance over Pakistan and in the ongoing tournament. India won 2-1 against Pakistan as Harmanpreet Singh scored twice off penalty corners. For Pakistan, Ahmad Nadeem scored the loan goal off Hannan Shahid's perfect pass to split India's defense. This was India’s fifth consecutive win in the round-robin six-team tournament.

India, Pakistan in semifinals

India qualified for the semifinals with an unbeaten record. They are on the top of the points table. On the other hand, despite the defeat, Pakistan have qualified for the semis as well alongside South Korea. Pakistan have two wins, two draws and a loss from five games in the six-team tournament. 
 

The semifinals are scheduled to take place on September 16. There is a possibility that Pakistan and India may meet again in the tournament.
