US hockey star Jack Hughes, the New Jersey Devils center and a key player for Team USA, famous for his overtime heroics in the 2026 Winter Olympics gold medal game, was forced to address bizarre rumors claiming he was marrying Indian billionaire heiress Ayesha Arora.
The confusion stemmed from a case of mistaken identity. Ayesha, the daughter of Indian-American billionaire Nikesh Arora, is indeed getting married in a lavish, multi-day ceremony in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, to a different man with the same name. Arora’s multi-day celebration kicked off in Delhi, India, on Wednesday, and guests then traveled to Jodhpur for a Holi party.

In statements to Forbes, Brisson confirmed it was not his client getting married, describing it as a straightforward mistaken identity.
Social media initially reported that the groom was the famous NHL player, sparking viral stories and widespread speculation online, especially given Hughes' recent surge in fame from the Olympics. This led to enough buzz that Hughes' agent, Pat Brisson, had to publicly clarify the mix-up.
The real groom is a different person sharing the same common name, while the hockey star was presumably focused on his NHL schedule. Hughes is, as per rumors, in a romantic relationship with pop star Tate McRae.
