In a closely contested Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) match on Saturday, December 23, the Jaipur Pink Panthers secured a narrow 25-24 win over the Tamil Thalaivas, largely thanks to standout performances by Sunil Kumar and Reza Mirbagheri. The duo excelled in defense, contributing 9 tackle points and executing three impressive SUPER TACKLES.
Despite losing their home opener against Patna Pirates, the Thalaivas showed remarkable coordination early in the game, quickly achieving an ALL OUT against the Pink Panthers and establishing a 7-point lead within the first 10 minutes.
The initial half of the match saw prominent raiding efforts from both teams. Himanshu Narwal was a key player for the Thalaivas, earning 7 of their 8 raid points. On the Pink Panthers' side, Arjun Deshwal was equally impactful, scoring all their raid points in the half. The Thalaivas held a 16-10 lead as the teams went into halftime.
In the second half, the match remained tightly contested until Ajinkya Pawar's decisive DO OR DIE raid triggered a second ALL OUT for the Thalaivas.
However, the standout factor was the impenetrable defense of the Pink Panthers, who extensively relied on SUPER TACKLES to maintain their position in the match. Whenever challenged, the defensive duo of Sunil Kumar and Reza Mirbagheri consistently executed near-impossible tackles to keep their team competitive.
Adding to their defensive prowess, Mirbagheri also executed an exceptional raid in the last three minutes, bringing the Pink Panthers to within a point of their opponents.
This spurred a series of plays where the Pink Panthers induced frequent mistakes from the Thalaivas, eventually taking a one-point lead into the final 30 seconds. A tactical error by the Thalaivas' bench during their last raid provided the Pink Panthers with an opportunity to clinch a hard-fought victory in the closing moments of the game.
