Ashish's miracle helps Haryana to secure victory as U Mumba suffer defeat against Patna Pirates

The first match of February 8 (Tuesday) between Haryana Steelers and Tamil Thalaivas saw an exciting encounter as Steelers bagged a 37-29 victory in the first match of the night, in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2022. In the second match between Patna Pirates and U Mumba, the Patna-side dominated the game to secure a 47-36 victory. 

 

Haryana's victory

For Haryana, Ashish performed amazingly and led his team to victory. Ashish got full support of Captain Vikas, in the game. At the same time, Patna did not give U Mumba any chance to earn many points and completely dominated the match. 

 

Three-time champions Patna Pirates consolidated themselves at the top of the points table by defeating U Mumba in the 103rd match of the eighth season of the PKL. Patna got their 12th win in 17 matches while Mumba faced their sixth defeat. Apart from Sachin Tanwar (16 points), in Patna's victory, Guman Singh (11 points) contributed significantly as well. 

 

Abhishek Singh bagged 13 points for U Mumba while V Ajit Kumar also completed his super ten in the last moments but his efforts proved insufficient for the team.

 

Early lead

Patna took a 5-1 lead within four minutes of play. Then Guman increased the lead to 8-1 with a multi point raid. U Mumba were close to all out but Abhishek Singh not only opened his account with a super raid but also made the score 4-8. However, after this, Patna took a lead of 13-4 by landing an all-out on U Mumba. After this, U Mumba did make a comeback and made the score 10-14. Then Abhishek pushed Patna to the brink of all-out with the third consecutive raid point and made the score 14-16.

 

After this, Patna got five points due to Sachin's raid. The umpires gave four points on this raid but Fazal Atrachali reviewed and but it was eventually rejected. Now Patna got the lead of 21-14. Then Sachin completed a super ten on the very next raid. Abhishek could not avoid the all-out this time. Patna eventually had taken the lead by dismissing U Mumba for the second time.

By the end of the first half the score was 26-18 in favour of Patna. After the break, Patna took four points while U Mumba could only register two more points. Sachin went on for a do or die raid but he got a super tackle. Then Shivam took out Guman and revived Abhishek.

 

However, Monu increased the lead to 10 with a do or die Raid by giving Patna three points. U Mumba was on the verge of all-out for the third time in the game. Shivam earned two points by dashing Sachin who came after revival. This time U Mumba could not save the all-out and now Patna had got a lead of 38-27.

 

Two and a half minutes were left in the game and the score was 43-31 in favour of Patna. Then Rinku caught Guman and later Ajit scored multiple points after this but Sachin cancelled out all his efforts by registering a super raid.
