After the Italian Grand Prix, Formula 1 bids farewell to Europe for the rest of the season and will now head to Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The main race on the street circuit will take place on 15th September, Sunday.
What happened in the Italian Grand Prix?
It was Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, who won the Italian Grand Prix for the second time with the Prancing Horse squad. It was a sigh of relief for both the Tifosi fans and the team as well. On the other hand, both the McLaren drivers had tyre degradation which meant they had to pit twice.
Meanwhile, defending champion Max Verstappen once again had a race to forget as he ended up finishing in the sixth spot and his teammate, Sergio Perez took the eighth spot.
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was first held in 2017 and has taken place six times. In the year 2020, the race didn't go ahead due to COVID. Sergio Perez has won the race twice in 2021 and 2023, making him the only driver who won the race twice.
Meanwhile, Red Bull have registered four wins at Baku (2017, 2021, 2022, 2023). Mercedes have won the street circuit twice in 2018 and 2019.
