It includes Bill Elliot and Chase Elliot, Bobby Allison and Davey Allison, Richard Petty and Kyle Petty and Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

In real terms, many drivers in the history of NASCAR have found home on the track as their generations have raced in the sport. Interestingly, some of them drove together on the tracks. One big achievement in the sport is grabbing pole position in the season opener which is the Daytona 500 at International Speedway.

Since the sport's inception over the last seven decades, the sport has seen many father-and-son duos. The Daytona 500 is the most important race of the sport and marks the start of the Cup Series season. The qualifying is also different from other races.

Single-lap runs decide the front-row starters and for the rest of the grid, they take part in two "Duel" battles. After this, you have the whole grid placing set for the main 500-mile race.

Bill Elliot and Chase Elliot

Bill Elliot claimed his first Daytona 500 pole in 1985 and did it for another three years. On top of it, he won the races in 1985 and 1987. Chase Elliot, his son made his Cup Series debut in 2016 and clinched the pole position.

While achieving the feat, he was the youngest Daytona pole-sitter in the history of the sport. The year later he took the pole position again.

Bobby Allison and Davey Allison

The father-son duo of Bobby Allison and Davey Allison have taken the pole once in their careers. Bobby Allison did it back in 1981 when he used to race for Pontiac. A decade later, his son, Davey Allison did the same while driving for a much faster Ford.

Richard Petty and Kyle Petty

One of the most celebrated names in the history of the sport is Richard Petty and he is also one of the most successful drivers too. He scored his first and only pole position in 1966. His son, Kyle Petty was not as big a name as his father and that showed in his Cup Series record.

He was not a very successful driver in the Cup Series and recorded his only pole position back in 1993.

Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The Eardhardts have a long history in the sport of NASCAR. Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. were part of many races together after Earnhardt Jr's debut back in 1999. The father-son duo were very competitive in their careers but managed one only pole position each in their careers. Earnhardt Sr. did it back in 1996 and then came the turn of Earnhardt Jr. who did it in 2011.
