McLaren clinched their second straight Constructors’ Championship with podium finishes from Norris and Piastri.

George Russell delivered a masterclass in control and precision at the Singapore Grand Prix, converting pole position into a dominant victory for Mercedes. The British driver led from start to finish at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, showcasing both pace and composure to claim his second win of the 2025 Formula 1 season and the fifth victory of his career.

Behind him, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris completed the podium, while McLaren clinched enough points to secure their second consecutive Constructors’ Championship, reaffirming their resurgence as one of F1’s most competitive outfits.

Russell’s flawless drive from start to finish

Starting from pole, George Russell made a clean getaway as the lights went out, immediately establishing a strong lead over Verstappen. The chaos unfolded behind him when Lando Norris made slight contact with Verstappen’s Red Bull, brushing wheels with teammate Oscar Piastri in the process. Despite the tense moment, Norris managed to get ahead of Piastri and continue his pursuit of the leaders.

While Piastri expressed frustration over team dynamics on the radio, Russell remained untouchable at the front. The Silver Arrows driver executed a near-perfect race strategy, maintaining steady pace and composure through the high-pressure environment of Singapore’s demanding street circuit.

His commanding performance saw him cross the finish line unchallenged, securing a well-deserved win that reinforced Mercedes’ continued strength late in the season.

Verstappen fends off late challenge from Norris

Behind George Russell, Max Verstappen found himself under pressure in the final stages as Norris closed the gap rapidly. The Red Bull driver, however, showcased his defensive brilliance, holding firm to retain second place. Norris ultimately had to settle for third, with Piastri finishing just behind in fourth — a result that proved crucial for McLaren’s title-clinching effort.

McLaren’s consistent double-points finish ensured the team claimed the 2025 Teams’ Championship, marking their second straight Constructors’ title — a testament to their remarkable consistency and development over the past two seasons.

Mercedes and Ferrari round out the points

Further down the order, Kimi Antonelli delivered an impressive drive for Mercedes, finishing fifth and adding valuable points to the team’s tally. Charles Leclerc claimed sixth for Ferrari, while teammate Lewis Hamilton crossed the line in seventh.

However, Hamilton’s race ended on a sour note as the seven-time World Champion was penalized post-race for exceeding track limits, dropping him to eighth place after a five-second time penalty.

A memorable night under the Singapore lights

George Russell’s victory under the Marina Bay floodlights added another highlight to an already thrilling season. With his win and McLaren’s championship triumph, the Singapore Grand Prix once again delivered drama, precision, and historic moments — hallmarks of Formula 1’s most glamorous night race.
