Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton took to the comments section of George Russell's Instagram post, which the Mercedes racer shared after winning the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix. Russell recreated Hamilton's "very cool pic" following the win and shared a story behind the same in the caption.
George Russell claimed the pole position at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, beating Max Verstappen to it by nearly two tenths. The Mercedes racer had a good start off the line and comfortably maintained the lead. The pit stop was without any trouble, and Russell dominantly went on to win the race.
While Max Verstappen did start catching George Russell on hard tires, the traffic played its part, and the Dutchman, having to defend against Norris in the latter parts, gave the Mercedes racer an easy win.
George Russell took to Instagram and recreated Lewis Hamilton's image from the 2018 Singapore GP, where the seven-time F1 champion sat on the start-finish straight with the trophy beside him. Russell was with Mercedes in 2018 as a reserve racer and detailed how he witnessed Hamilton taking the image. The caption read,
“Back in 2018 I was here with Mercedes watching Lewis take an insane pole and win. I remember seeing him take a very cool pic on the circuit after the win and of myself dreaming of being in F1. 7 years later, it's a special moment for me to win here in Singapore and to celebrate the moment with my team.”
Lewis Hamilton took to the comment section of the post and congratulated his former teammate and team on the win, as he wrote,
“Mega drive George, proud of you and the team! Keep up the great work.”
Lewis Hamilton has won the Singapore Grand Prix four times, with the last win victory at the circuit coming in 2018 with Mercedes.
Fernando Alonso launched an explosive rant against Lewis Hamilton at the end of Singapore GP
Fernando Alonso was extremely furious after the Singapore Grand Prix, as Lewis Hamilton finished four tenths ahead of him despite facing a brake issue on the final laps. The Ferrari racer cut many corners in the last two laps as he could not manage to apply brakes properly, and held onto P7 when the chequered flag was flown.
After seeing Hamilton cut various corners to stay ahead of him on the final lap of the race on Sunday, Alonso exploded over the team radio.
"Oh, f***ing hell, man. I cannot believe it. Yeah, he knew it. I cannot f***ing believe it, I cannot fu**ing believe it. I mean, I cannot f***ing believe it. I cannot f***ing believe it. Is it safe to drive with no brakes?" said Alonso.
"I mean, you cannot drive like if you are alone on track. No respect [for] the red flag yesterday, today, free track for them," he also added.
In the end, Alonso settled for P7 finish as Hamilton got a post-race 5-second penalty for "leaving the track without a justifiable reason." The 40-year-old finished eight, after looking almost set to finish in the top-5 before he brake issues.
