Team McLaren has once again etched its name into Formula 1 history by securing the 2025 Constructors’ Championship, marking a second consecutive triumph for the iconic papaya outfit. The achievement came after Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri finished third and fourth, respectively, at the Singapore Grand Prix, a result strong enough to seal the title with six races still remaining in the season.
A historic milestone for McLaren
McLaren’s back-to-back championship wins mark their most successful run in decades, echoing the team’s dominant era between 1988 and 1991, when legends like Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost led them to four consecutive titles. The 2025 victory also stands as McLaren’s 10th Constructors’ Championship overall, cementing their position among Formula 1’s all-time greats.
Team Principal Andrea Stella described the achievement as deeply emotional and a reward for the team’s relentless dedication.
“It’s an incredible emotion. I want to share it with the team and thank them for the incredible work. Even with six races to go, which looks unbelievable! That’s thanks to the great work that has happened at McLaren. Thank you to our fans, to our sponsors, all the technical partners, it’s teamwork and it’s great that the teamwork is rewarded like this.”
Stella also acknowledged the challenge ahead as Formula 1 prepares for a new set of technical regulations in 2026.
“We are definitely working very hard to continue this streak of wins into the future, with this big change of technical regulations. We know it’s difficult but it’s an undertaking that we are ‘all in’ for it.”
Leadership and teamwork behind success
McLaren CEO Zak Brown praised the collective effort behind the team’s success, emphasizing the contributions of every member, from the race engineers to the factory staff.
“[It’s] pretty awesome. Unbelievable team here, unbelievable team back at the factory. All the men and women have done such an awesome job. The leadership that Andrea has provided to this race team, the whole leadership team, our owners, our shareholders – it’s such a team effort. It’s pretty awesome to go back-to-back. It’s been a while since we’ve done it!”
Brown also credited Norris and Piastri for their stellar performances, highlighting how both drivers pushed each other to elevate McLaren’s performance throughout the season.
“They’ve driven brilliantly all season. You can’t win the Constructors’ without two awesome racing drivers. As you can see, we’re letting them race. That was a bit more of a nail-biter there, but they race hard, they race clean, they race to win.”
Drivers celebrate team triumph
Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri expressed immense pride following McLaren’s championship-clinching performance. Despite a challenging race in Singapore, Norris said the overall result made up for the tough moments on track.
“A tough one today, but I guess a good result, from a P3 but also for us as a team. [We] got the Constructors’ – that was our goal into the weekend. Of course I want to win, but to come away with another Constructors’, that’s our goal as a team so it makes up for it, makes up for everything else, and [I’m] just very proud, happy to celebrate with everyone and happy that all their work is worth it.”
Piastri echoed the sentiment, commending the team’s effort and consistency across the season.
“This is one of the two objectives we set out to achieve every year, so to achieve it with this many races to go is very, very impressive. I’m just very happy for the whole team.”
With their second straight Constructors’ title secured, McLaren now turns its focus toward maintaining momentum and preparing for the upcoming regulatory shift in 2026.
