Indian hockey team has hit the jackpot after clinching historic bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 after beating Spain 2-1 on August 8. Government of Odisha and Punjab followed by Hockey India have announced massive prize money for each player of the victorious Indian hockey team, who won back-to-back bronze medal in their previous two Olympic outings. India's men's hockey team has etched its name in history by clinching a second consecutive Olympic bronze medal. This remarkable achievement marks the first time India has won back-to-back Olympic hockey medals since the 1972 Munich Games.

Massive prize money for bronze-medallist Indian hockey team 

 

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi has announced a significant cash reward of ₹4 crore for Amit Rohidas, captain of the Indian hockey team, in recognition of their historic bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics. Additionally, the Chief Minister has approved ₹15 lakh each for the players and ₹10 lakh each for the support staff as a token of appreciation for their outstanding performance.

 

Odisha CM took to X (previously known as Twitter) to announce the prize money for Indian hockey team.

 

"I congratulate the Indian men's hockey team for winning the bronze medal against Spain at the Paris Olympics. This bronze medal is a reflection of our dedication to hockey. The people of Odisha are proud of this achievement," Odisha CM said in a video posted on X.

 

"I have invited all the players to come to Odisha. Announcing a prize of ₹15 lakh to each player and ₹10 lakh to the support staff. Announcing a special award of ₹4 crores for Amit Rohidas, an orthodox son. This achievement must encourage countless sportspersons of Odisha," he added.

Punjab-based player to get Rs 1 crore each

 

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a substantial cash reward of ₹1 crore for each hockey player from the state who was part of the Indian team's historic bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics.

 

“As per our sports policy, we will give 1 crore for each bronze medal players of Punjab. Chak De India,” Bhagwant Mann posted on X.

 

 

Meanwhile, Hockey India also announced a cash prize of Rs 15 lakhs to each players of the Indian hockey team and Rs 7.5 lakhs each to every member of the support staff.

 

India's men's hockey team secured a historic second consecutive Olympic bronze medal with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Spain. Captain Harmanpreet Singh was the hero of the match, scoring both goals in the 30th and 33rd minutes to overturn Spain's early lead. The win has been met with widespread celebrations, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other leaders congratulating the team. Odisha and Punjab Chief Ministers also announced substantial cash rewards for the players. This victory marks India's eighth gold, one silver, and four bronze medals in Olympic hockey.
