Amit Rohidas suffers an one-match ban.

In the quarterfinal match of Paris Olympics 2024, the Indian hockey team playing with 10 players, defeated Great Britain in the penalty shootout. After the match was tied at 1-1, India scored four goals in the penalty shootout and the British team could score only twice. However, now bad news has come for the Indian hockey team which had won a memorable match and was going to the semi-finals as their star defender Amit Rohidas may be out of the semi-final match. India's semi-final match will be played on August 6. Amit Rohidas has been given a one-match ban by the FIH disciplinary committee, making him unavailable for the hockey semifinal. Actually, in the 17th minute of the match, the hockey stick of Indian defender Amit Rohidas hit the British player in the face. For this, he was given a red card and sent out for the rest of the match. Due to this India played the entire match with only 10 players but came out victorious despite it. However, the trouble did not end there and now he has to face a one-match ban as well and this can be a really big blow to the India team.

What did the coach say?

Speaking to PTI, an official said Rohidas' decision would depend on the seriousness of the incident. While India head coach Fulton said, “I need to look at it, speak to him. But obviously, if someone gets hit to the head, something's wrong. But I will stand up for Amit. He's not that kind of player. You've always got to look where there's smoke, there's fire. So, what happened first, for that to happen and we'll just look to that. Not the other way.”
