Paris Olympics: Ramita Jindal finishes seventh, India's medal hopes dashed in 10m air rifle final

India shooter Ramita Jindal ended her Paris Olympics 2024 campaign after a strong performance in the final of the women's 10m Air Rifle event. The star shooter is out of the medal contention round after a 9.7 in the last shot of the second series proved to costly for her. Ramita finished in the seventh position with 145.3 points whereas Le Alexandra finished sixth with 165.4. On the other hand, Ban Hyojin finished on top with 211.0 points. 
 

In the qualifications on Sunday, she performed exceedingly well to make the final in fifth place. Ramita, the Hangzhou Asian Games bronze-medallist in the event, beat World Championship medallist Mehuli Ghosh and Tilottama Sen at the domestic trials to make it to the Paris Games. On the other hand, India shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh have qualified for the bronze medal match in the 10m air pistol mixed team event which is scheduled to take place on July 30 where they will face Korea. Manu Bhaker came into the qualification after she clinched the historic bronze medal in the 10m women's air pistol event. 

 

If Manu and Sarabjot's duo managed to clinch a medal in a mixed team event then Manu will become the first Indian shooter to clinch two medals in a single edition of games.
