World Athletics Championships 2023: Nine Indians in action on Day 1; check the complete schedule, timing and streaming details

The highly-anticipated 2023 World Athletics Championships will kick start on August 19 (Saturday) in Budapest, Hungary. A total of nine Indian athletes will begin their campaign across five disciplines on the opening day of the competition with three athletes vying for a podium finish in Men’s 20m Race Walk. The biggest attraction on Day 1 will be Commonwealth Games silver medalist Avinash Sable in men’s 3000m steeplechase and Shaili Singh in women’s long jump.

World Championships Day 1: India Schedule

1. Men’s 20km Race Walk Final: Akashdeep Singh, Vikash Singh, Paramjeet Singh will look for an unprecedented podium finish in the event that is scheduled to begin at 12:20 PM IST.

2. Men’s 3000m Steeplechase: Avinash Sable will be seen in Heat 1 when the event commences at 3:05 PM IST.

3. Women’s Long Jump: Shaili Singh will be seen in action at 3:55 PM IST when she walks out for the qualification rounds in Group B of the event.

4. Men’s 1500m: Ajay Kumar Saroj will compete in Heat 3 of the event, which is scheduled to take place at 10:50 PM IST.

5. Men’s Triple Jump: Abdulla Aboobacker will be seen in action at 11:07 PM IST. He will participate in the qualification rounds of the event from Group A.

6. Men’s Triple Jump: From Group B, two Indian athletes - Praveen Chithravel and Eldhouse Paul - will be seen in action in the qualification rounds.

Where to watch the 2023 World Championships in India?

The 2023 World Championships will not be live telecasted on Televisions in India. Fans can watch the competition live on Jio Cinema.

The competition that kicks off on August 19 will last for more than a week. The last day of the 2023 World Championships is August 27. India has sent a team comprising of 27 athletes to Budapest for the World Championships. The marquee name from the Indian contingent is of Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, who will feature in Javelin throw later in the competition.
