One of the biggest superstars in the history of combat sports, Conor McGregor is set to make his much-awaited return. However, the return will not be happening inside UFC's octagon and neither it will be a MMA bout, instead the Notorious will be returning to the Boxing ring, where he once fought the iconic fight against Floyd Mayweather. Conor who last fought in July 2021, has been out of action due to the horrific leg fracture he suffered against Dustin Poirier.
Conor to face Logan Paul
The first-ever UFC double champion has announced that he is in a preliminary agreement with the multi-billionaire Ambani family for an exhibition boxing bout against social media influence turned boxer and current WWE star Logan Paul in India.
"The rumors of a bout with (Ilia) Topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon," wrote Conor McGregor from his official X account formerly known as Twitter.
Logan Paul just like his younger brother Jake Paul has risen as a prominent name in the professional boxing scene. Where Jake recently defeated Mike Tyson in a boxing bout, Logan has also shared the ring with the likes of Floyd Mayweather in the past. He has also been in the ring with Conor's friend Dillon Dannis. Apart from boxing, Logan has gained a massive following in WWE as well in a really short time.
This also included a run with the United States Championship. He has some incredible matches with the likes of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and LA Knight.
Conor's MMA return delayed
McGregor is one of the most decorated superstars in the history of UFC. He was expected to make his much-awaited return to the octagon early this year with Michael Chandler. However, despite the build-up of more than a year, the fight could not happen. Conor was set to make a return but backed off due to a broken toe.
If Conor goes for the boxing bout, this could mean that UFC will have to wait a lot longer for the return of its biggest cash cow. However, a bout against Logan could fetch a lot of money, it could be similar to the time he shared a ring against Floyd.
