The International Tent Pegging Federation (ITPF) has requested a two-year punishment for four Indian equestrians who competed in World Cup qualifying with a fictitious Nepalese squad. In addition, the ITPF has requested an apology from the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI). EFI, on the other hand, has refused to accept the judgement, claiming that they are conducting their own inquiry.
The ITPF had already barred four Indian riders from the Nepal team in the World Cup qualifiers held in Greater Noida earlier this year, as well as filed a plea to have them dropped for at least two years. The tournament was organized by the EFI, in collaboration with Delhi-headquartered Equiwings Sports, under ITPF.
In response, EFI's Joint Secretary, Lt Col MM Rahman, stated that the ITPF does not have the authority to intervene until their inquiry is done. Despite the fact that the incident occurred eight months ago, EFI's investigation is still ongoing.
However, the incident could be the end of the road in the professional careers of all the four horsemen.
